HJSIL® Fumed Silica offers excellent thickening properties and can be used as a thickener in laminating resins and gel coats, for example in the new energy sector, the automotive industry or in construction. For wind turbine rotor blades, a large amount of adhesive is used. These adhesives must have good thixotropy and specific slump properties.
HJSIL® fumed silica is used as a standard thixotropic agent in adhesive pastes based on epoxy, polyurethane and vinyl ester resins. Hydrophobic fumed silica is a high-performance thixotropic agent used in the manufacture of adhesive pastes for rotor blades. In addition, the adhesive paste must have excellent fatigue properties. Structurally modified fumed silica grades can be tailored to bond pastes with excellent reinforcing properties.
